• Initial consultation (not including treatment): free of charge
What to expect:
During this consultation, we will review your history and current complaints, look
at your tongue and take your pulse. This consultation will give us an idea of how
acupuncture may be able to help you and what types of results you may be able to
expect from treatment. You'll be able to determine if you would like to be treated
and if you feel that we are a good fit. This initial consultation takes about 30 minutes.
• Treatment session
What to expect:
At the beginning of your treatment we'll talk for a few minutes to review any
changes or progress since your last treatment. We may also discuss helpful dietary, herbal or lifestyle changes. Your acupuncture treatment will generally consist of between two and ten shallowly inserted needles. These needles will be retained for anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. For some complaints, particularly those related to pain, Sarah may do a second round of needles after the initial needles have been removed. Additional techniques such as moxabustion, cupping, gua sha or other modalities may be used at this time. Acupuncture is usually followed by 10 minutes of traditional bodywork if time permits. After each treatment we'll fine tune any remaining symptoms and address any remaining concerns you may have.
Special situations:
For individuals requiring treatment multiple times a week in order to see results, Sarah can perform shorter treatments at a reduced price. She is willing to work with you to ensure that you receive the care you need at a reasonable cost.
She also offers combined rates for individuals receiving treatment who live in the same household and schedule their treatments back to back.
Sarah is accustomed to treating entire families (including those with small children) all at once and at providing treatment in unconventional spaces. If you need to be treated at home or need to bring your children to your appointment, she is more than happy to work with you.
Availability:
Sarah's practice is located at 19 Clark Point Road, Suite 103 (upstairs in the post office building) in Southwest Harbor. She is generally available for appointments on Mondays, Fridays and Saturday mornings.
Sarah is available for housecalls on a limited basis on MDI at no additional charge.
Insurance:
Sarah is happy to work with you and your insurance company. She is an in- network provider for MedNet, Cinga and Aetna and is registered with Anthem BCBS.
Contact your insurance company to determine your coverage for acupuncture. If you are covered, Sarah will send your provider a bill for services provided.
